A
lot of what I like seems to come from this country.
It's quite strange, really. I have no Swedish friends or relatives;
I've never even been to Sweden! Could it be just a coincidence that
so many great things are Swedish? |

What is
it about Sweden that I like? The land is
rugged and full of natural beauty; it offers the kind
of scenary that I like. The nordic race is very
attractive in my opinion. The advanced peaceful
society and technology are appealing. The typical
Swedish character is quite like my own. My political
viewpoint is in line with Swedish thinking. Like most
Swedes, I'm not religious. Even the Swedish
language is music to my ears -- a pleasure
to hear and to speak.
Also, I
have developed a taste for Swedish exports.
When it comes to music, Swedish artists dominate
my collection. My three favourite groups (ABBA,
Ace of Base, and Roxette)
are from Sweden as
are several others who have a home in
my CD rack.

One of my favourite kinds of cars is Volvo.
The reliable quality of these fine automobiles is
well-known, but I'm also drawn to the concept
and design -- safe and sturdy with elegant
looks that are simple, sensible, sophisticated.
Another
expression of my aesthetic preferences comes from the popular
and successful home furnishings store, IKEA.
The Swedish design values are obvious in the modern, understated,
functional, and unique pieces that are sold there.

I do hope
that I will someday have the chance
to visit Sweden. With all my appreciation for it,
it's certainly a shame that I've never been there.
In all
fairness, though, I should mention that there
are a couple of things that I don't find so great
about Sweden. They are the cold climate and
the cuisine. (Longer summers and less fish
would be nice.)
