when Ace of Base burst onto the international scene
with their record-breaking album, "The Sign" ("Happy
Nation" in Europe). The heavy dance beats and great
hooks were hypnotising. The second album, "The Bridge"
is even better in my opinion. And the third, "Cruel Summer"
("Flowers" in Europe)... fantastic! The best for sure. Ace
of Base has obviously expanded their horizons and
experimented with new sounds, keeping me
captivated along the way.
Since the very beginning, the comparisons
with ABBA have
been unavoidable, but, especially recently, they are
definitely justified. I'm not complaining. It's wonderful to
hear an ABBA-esque sound with a 90's flavour.
